6:18 annotated

The title of this songs derives from deciding what time to call a girl for the first time. When one calls a girl during the early stages of a relationship, one must do so at an unassuming time. At exactly 7pm or 7:30pm seems to contrived and formulaic. One must find a time when it will appear at random, while at the same time, completely calculated and premeditated. One may ask, "It takes more effort to appear effortless" but that is not a question. A question ends in a question mark and asks something. Let me rephrase that statement in question form. "Do you realize that while trying to appear random and aloof you are actually contradicting yourself and being entirely un-random?" The answer to that is "Yes, I realize that". But it's a small price to pay because if someone looks at a clock right when you call them (I know I do that) then they will think that you just picked up the phone and called without any neurosis or planning. However, when I do just pick up the phone to call, and it is exactly 8pm or so, I do not hesitate to call, unless it is an initial phone call or some type of relationship game scenario. P.S. ‚ don't listen to any of my dating tips, I am a fucking idiot.

Other than the name of the song being "6:18 pm", it has nothing to do with actually calling a girl. I made this beat the day I was going to call this girl and I had planned to call her at 6:18 pm. I did call her but she wasn't home so I left a message on the answering machine.

This was the first song for this album that was rhymed to (I think). Anderegg and I just got shit faced as we were recording so it got worse (meaning our rhyming got worse) as we went along.

I know I said I don't transcribe freestlyes but I transcribed TR's (Turkish Revolution) first verse even though it is a freestyle. I make no apologies for this.

Key words: Giterous - fake anderegg word that sounds like clitoris. "life-span panned center .org" ‚ this was one of the first mentions of my new name (at that time I was the bombastic and presumptuous "the one-up kid"). I think the name ".org" was thought of just a few days before.

Other random times:
7:08 pm
9:41 pm
8:52 pm

(note: be careful about choosing a random time because everyone's clock is different)
